Disruptive behavior
The
antagonizing feeling of having an unsuccessful class taunts on the feelings any
teacher. The mere thought of encountering unruly children in the class and
making no progress in the learning objectives arouses my interest in class
management. After exploring several classroom settings, I discovered that there
is a behavioral issue among the students in every class. Therefore, I intend to
use this paper to encourage aspiring teachers to reflect on disruptive behavior
in class and the classroom management techniques that offer solutions for a
better teaching environment.
Many
would ask why classroom management is necessary. Well, every classroom has its
challenges emanating from the behavior of children that upset the normal flow
of learning. Upon further reflection of these behavioral challenges, I realized
that the source of this disruptive behavior comes from the background of the
children as well as the methodology of teaching. I reckon that the children act
out due to the lack of proper upbringing especially the development of their
character. Understanding the tendencies of the children and their background
allows the teacher to develop strategies that can effectively reach out to
these students. I am certain that it is
difficult to acquire the attention of the students throughout the session
without paying keen attention to the students.
I
acknowledge the abolition of corporal punishment as a gusty and inhumane
practice; nevertheless, punishment is a critical element in the management of
the class. I suppose fostering a good relationship with the students is
necessary but at the same time one should demand their respect. Applying strict
yet flexible form of teaching reminds the students that you are in charge of
the class and at the same time creates room for free interactions with the
children. After evaluating several successful classes, I discerned that
managing the class is beneficial to the student and also the teacher. The
tranquil and submissive environment created through class management makes it
easy to teach as well as increases the chances that both parties enjoy the
lesson.
